Netanyahu’s Pick of Roman Gafman as Next Mossad Chief Sparks Controversy

Benjamin Netanyahu’s selection of Roman Gafman, his military advisor, as the future head of Mossad has ignited controversy. Senior Mossad officials are questioning Gafman’s qualifications for the critical role.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Prime Minister’s office of the Zionist regime has announced Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to appoint Roman Gafman, his military advisor, as the next head of Mossad.

If confirmed, Gafman is slated to officially assume the position in June 2026. However, Netanyahu’s choice has stirred controversy within the occupied territories, with prominent Mossad officials asserting that Gafman lacks the necessary skills for the job.

These officials emphasize that the selection of the new Mossad chief deviates from the established procedure for appointing heads of the spy agency. They also warn that this decision poses a significant risk, particularly given the current sensitive circumstances surrounding Mossad.

David Barnea, the current Mossad chief, is set to step down in June upon completion of his five-year term. Channel 12 of Israeli television reported in mid-November that Barnea had requested Netanyahu not to extend his tenure.

David Barnea is the last remaining security official of the Zionist regime who has retained his position since the events of October 7. Other high-ranking officials, including former War Minister Yoav Galant, former head of the Israeli internal security organization (Shabak) Ronin Bar, former Chief of Staff of the Zionist regime Hertzi Halevi, and several other military commanders, have either been dismissed or retired.
