Israel Claims Citizen Spied for Iran, Received Thousands of Dollars

Israeli police have accused a 37-year-old Israeli citizen of espionage on behalf of Iran, alleging the individual received thousands of dollars in exchange for providing information.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli police on Thursday claimed that an Israeli citizen residing in Ashkelon spied for Iran.

The police stated the 37-year-old received thousands of dollars from Iran to transmit information.

These allegations are not new, as Israeli security officials periodically arrest Israelis on the pretext of spying for Iran, allegedly to conceal their own failures and divert attention from domestic protests.

However, concerns about the expansion of espionage activities among Israelis have reportedly contributed to a tense security situation in the occupied territories. Recently, Zvika Brot, the mayor of Bat Yam, claimed that significant efforts have been made to recruit Israelis online for espionage on behalf of Iran since the start of the conflict. Brot warned that “the Iranians have reached Bat Yam, and this is no joke.”
