Putin: Independent Palestinian State Is Key to Resolving Gaza Crisis

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the key to resolving the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. Putin affirmed Moscow’s continued involvement in efforts to address the Palestinian issue through the United Nations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Vladimir Putin has emphasized that forming an independent Palestinian state is the solution to the Gaza crisis. Citing a report from Russia Today, Putin affirmed that Moscow would continue to participate in efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue within the framework of the United Nations.

In a conversation with India Today, Putin stated, “It is right to think about ways to manage Gaza so that all powers are transferred to the Palestinians.”

Putin noted that such options are currently being discussed among Arab countries, neighboring states, and even the United States. “This is part of the UN process, and we have always been involved in this process and will continue with our friends,” he added.

Putin reiterated that creating an independent Palestinian state is the only path to achieving a sustainable solution in Gaza. He also mentioned the issue of prisoner release, stating that it is a fundamental step in the framework of efforts to resolve the Palestinian conflict.

According to Putin, what has been achieved so far with the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump, primarily the return of Israeli prisoners, is the “most important step” in resolving the Palestinian crisis.

In a previous speech at the Valdai International Forum, the Russian President stated that Moscow is generally ready to support Trump’s proposal regarding Gaza, but the transfer of management should be fully entrusted to the Palestinian Authority.

Putin emphasized that Russia’s support for any initiative depends on its commitment to a two-state solution, which he considers the key to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

He also stressed the need for transparency in the mechanisms and timeline for transferring civil and security powers to the Palestinians.

He noted that it should be determined how long the international administration of Gaza will continue and when civil and security powers will be transferred to the Palestinians, because, according to him, “international administration cannot be a permanent replacement for Palestinian sovereignty.”
