Lebanese Parliament Speaker Rejects Negotiations Amidst Ongoing Israeli Attacks

Nabi Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, has stated that negotiations under fire are unacceptable, during a meeting with ambassadors and representatives of the UN Security Council, where they discussed developments in Lebanon and the broader region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabi Berri met with ambassadors and representatives from the UN Security Council to discuss the ongoing situation in Lebanon and the region.

The meeting, which lasted over 75 minutes, focused on political and field developments. Berri listened to the positions of the Security Council representatives and elaborated on Resolution 1701, its importance, implementation, the ceasefire agreement, its conditions, and the role of international emergency forces within this framework.

Berri also highlighted what he sees as inconsistencies in Resolution 2790.

He emphasized that stability in the south requires Israel’s commitment to Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement by halting daily aggressions and withdrawing behind international borders. With the five-member committee intensifying its meetings, Berri asserted that Israel must immediately cease attacks and end its unilateral war against Lebanon.

“Negotiation under fire is not permissible and is not acceptable,” the Speaker stated firmly.

Berri warned that the continuation of war and aggression by Israel would reignite the conflict.
