Meloni: Europe Must Be Independent, Defend Itself Amid US Strategy Shift

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized the need for European independence in defense matters, citing a new strategy from the United States.
Meloni commented that relations between the US and Europe are not strained, suggesting that current tensions reflect long-standing disagreements, echoing sentiments previously expressed by Donald Trump.
“How serious are you about defending your interests?” Meloni asked. “The Americans have the power to defend their interests, and Europe should be the same. European self-defense will be costly but will guarantee the political freedom of the continent. Europe must understand that if it wants to be powerful, it must make its own decisions and not rely on others.”
