Nigeria Seeks Full Membership in BRICS Economic Alliance

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nigeria has formally expressed its interest in joining the BRICS economic alliance. Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar announced Nigeria’s aspiration during remarks at the Doha Forum, highlighting the country’s potential to learn from the experiences of BRICS nations.
Tuggar noted that Nigeria envisions becoming a middle-class society with a population approaching 400 million by the year 2050. He stated, “I hope that in the near future we will become a full member of this group.”
BRICS is an acronym representing the initial member countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The organization has been actively seeking to expand its membership in recent years. In 2023, BRICS decided to admit Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates as new members.
