Protests Erupt in Tel Aviv Against Netanyahu Pardon
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, demonstrators have taken to the streets in Tel Aviv to protest against a potential pardon for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The protestors are also voicing opposition to the military service laws currently in place within the Zionist regime.
These demonstrations coincide with President Isaac Herzog’s response to Netanyahu’s appeal for a pardon. Herzog emphasized that Netanyahu’s actions have caused concern among many and asserted that his decision would be based solely on the “interests of Israel and Israelis.”
In a statement released by his office, Herzog stated that “violent discourse” would not deter him from his decision and that the request for a pardon would be thoroughly and clearly examined.
The newspaper “Israel Hayom” reported on Netanyahu’s pardon request, noting that while Netanyahu outwardly requests Herzog to grant him clemency based on “public interest,” he is in effect proposing a deal: the abandonment of judicial reforms in exchange for a pardon.
Netanyahu has stated that a pardon would allow him to work towards Zionist unity and address other issues such as the judicial system and the media.
The newspaper suggests that Netanyahu’s mention of returning to address these additional issues implies an offer to halt the judicial reforms.
