Yemeni Separatists Call for Mass Protests to Demand Southern Yemen’s Independence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Southern Transitional Council (STC), supported by the United Arab Emirates, has issued a statement urging its supporters to stage extensive sit-ins in Aden, southern Yemen.
The group announced that the purpose of this call is to formally demand the establishment and re-formation of the state of South Yemen.
This call comes after elements affiliated with the STC, backed by the UAE, took control of Al-Mahra province in eastern Yemen early Thursday. The province is located near the border with Oman.
According to reports, the control of this province was handed over to the aforementioned elements by military commanders affiliated with the self-proclaimed Yemeni government without any fighting or clashes.
Al-Mahra is the second largest province in Yemen after Hadramaut in terms of area and has two border crossings with Oman.
This event occurred hours after the announcement of an agreement between local officials in Hadramaut province and the tribes of the region, mediated by Saudi Arabia.
