Hamas Links Weapons Handover to End of Israeli Occupation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas is willing to hand over its weapons under specific conditions, according to a recent statement from Khalil al-Hayya, the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Hayya clarified that this transfer would only occur once the Israeli occupation ends, and the weapons would be handed over to a future government of the State of Palestine administering the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized the connection between the presence of Hamas’s weapons and the presence of what he termed “occupiers,” asserting that the weapons would be turned over to the Palestinian government upon the end of the occupation.
Al-Hayya’s office further explained to Agence France-Presse that by “government,” he was referring to the State of Palestine. He also noted that discussions concerning weapons are ongoing with various Palestinian factions and mediators.
Furthermore, Hamas has expressed its approval of international forces acting as monitors along the borders and overseeing ceasefire agreements.
