Kremlin Praises US Removal of Russia from List of Threats

The Kremlin has welcomed the United States’ decision to remove Russia from its list of direct threats in the new National Security Strategy. The move signals a potentially positive shift in relations between the two countries, according to Russian officials.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Kremlin has reacted positively to the United States’ new National Security Strategy, which omits Russia from the list of direct threats against America.

Kremlin officials stated that the removal of Russia from the list of direct threats in the U.S. National Security Strategy is a positive development.

Reports indicate that Russia was not mentioned even once as a potential threat to U.S. interests in the new National Security Strategy, which was unveiled last Thursday.

The document also calls for an end to NATO and, in the section dedicated to Europe, highlights disagreements over the war in Ukraine, accusing European officials of having unrealistic expectations about it.

Phillips O’Brien, a professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, commented that the document resembles a summary of Russia’s position, as it urges European countries to resume cooperation with Russia and presents the United States as a tool to achieve this goal.

Nathalie Tocci, director of the Institute of International Affairs in Rome and former diplomatic advisor to the European Union, noted that the document offers a relatively coherent view of a world dominated by three major powers—the United States, China, and Russia—each with areas of cooperation and spheres of influence.

She added that it is quite clear that the U.S. government views Europe as a target for its own or Russia’s colonial domination.
