Lebanese Prime Minister Accuses Israel of Attrition Warfare

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Israel of waging a war of attrition against Lebanon and violating its sovereignty on a daily basis. Salam stated that Lebanon is not in a state of peace and that Israel has failed to withdraw from occupied Lebanese territory.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has asserted that Israel has initiated a war of attrition against Lebanon, thus maintaining a state of conflict rather than peace.

Salam emphasized that Israel has not adhered to the ceasefire agreement and continues to occupy areas within Lebanon. He stated that despite commitments to withdraw from all Lebanese territory occupied ten months prior, Israel has not fulfilled this obligation.

The Prime Minister further accused Israel of consistently violating Lebanese sovereignty, stating that there is no justification for the continued presence of Israeli military forces in occupied areas of southern Lebanon. He added that these violations of the ceasefire and Lebanese sovereignty are occurring daily.

Echoing these concerns, Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Mitri warned that any conflict in southern Lebanon would be initiated by Israel. Mitri called for an end to Israeli attacks, a withdrawal from Lebanese territories, and the extension of government control over all of Lebanon.

Mitri also affirmed that no faction within Lebanon desires a civil war and that the government is committed to preventing such an outcome. He noted that relations with Syria are currently stronger than they have been in the past 50 years, based on mutual respect.
