Hamas Open to Discussing Weapons Under Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Hamas is reportedly willing to discuss its weapons arsenal as part of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, according to a senior leader. The group also welcomed the deployment of international forces to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and prevent future tensions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas is prepared to address the issue of its weapons within the framework of a Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to comments made by a leader of the organization.

Basem Naim, a Hamas leader, told the Associated Press that the movement is open to discussing its weapons as part of a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

Naim also welcomed the deployment of an international force to the borders to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and to prevent any escalation.

Prior to this announcement, Hamas, following a meeting with Egyptian intelligence officials in Cairo, had voiced its opposition to actions and plans by the Benjamin Netanyahu-led Israeli government aimed at imposing a new reality in Gaza. Hamas urged mediators to immediately pressure Israel to halt its ceasefire violations.

Walid al-Kilani, Hamas’ media representative in Lebanon, stated that resistance weapons are legitimate as long as the Palestinian people are under occupation, emphasizing that Palestinians consider negotiation over weapons a red line.

He added that the ceasefire agreement, based on the Trump plan, did not explicitly mention disarming the resistance, and Hamas had only agreed to some of the points raised by Trump.
