Tel Aviv Claims New Qatar-Turkey Plan Aims to Disarm Hamas

Israeli sources are alleging that Qatar and Turkey have proposed a new plan to disarm Hamas as part of the second phase of a Gaza ceasefire agreement. The proposal reportedly involves transferring Hamas weaponry to the Palestinian Authority or storing it under international supervision.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, sources in Tel Aviv are claiming that Qatar and Turkey have presented a new initiative aimed at disarming Hamas within the framework of the second phase of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The alleged plan suggests that Hamas’ weapons would be transferred to the Palestinian Authority or stored under international monitoring.

These sources state that the plan is envisioned to be implemented over a two-year period, but Tel Aviv reportedly seeks its execution within a matter of months.

Previously, Khalil al-Hayya, the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, asserted that the group would only relinquish its weapons upon the termination of the Israeli occupation.

Al-Hayya added that Hamas would then be prepared to hand over its arms to a government administering the Gaza Strip under the sovereign control of the State of Palestine.

“The existence of our weapons is linked to the existence of the occupiers,” al-Hayya stated. “If this occupation ends, we will hand over our weapons to the Palestinian government.”
