Malaysia Warns of Cambodia-Thailand Peace Deal Collapse Amid Renewed Clashes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warned that escalating conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand could undermine the progress made in stabilizing their bilateral ties.
Ibrahim emphasized that Thailand and Cambodia, both close partners of Malaysia and key members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), must exercise maximum restraint, maintain open communication channels, and utilize all available mechanisms to de-escalate tensions.
The Prime Minister offered Malaysia’s assistance in restoring calm to the Thailand-Cambodia border, stating that long-standing disputes should not devolve into a cycle of continuous confrontation. He stressed that the immediate priority is to halt the fighting, protect civilians, and return to diplomatic negotiations.
On Monday morning, the Thai military reported conducting airstrikes against Cambodian army positions along the border. Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire and initiating the renewed clashes.
The resurgence of conflict between Thailand and Cambodia occurs in the context of claims made by Donald Trump that he had successfully ended eight wars, including the conflict between these two nations.
The renewed hostilities between Thailand and Cambodia underscore the fragility of Trump’s claims regarding the establishment of global peace through the use of power.
