UN Chief Condemns Israeli Raid on UNRWA Headquarters

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned the Israeli military’s raid on the UNRWA headquarters in Jerusalem, demanding immediate measures to protect the agency’s facilities. Guterres also voiced alarm over the killing of civilians in Sudan and called for an immediate ceasefire.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday night called on the Israeli regime to take immediate action to protect the integrity of the buildings of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that Guterres condemned the unauthorized Israeli forces’ raid on the UNRWA headquarters in Jerusalem, stressing the agency’s premises are inviolable and immune from any interference.

In a separate statement, Guterres addressed the killings in Sudan, expressing his horror at reports of the deaths of dozens of children and other civilians in attacks in South Kordofan.

He called on all countries with influence to push for an immediate ceasefire and prevent weapons from entering Sudan, thereby preventing further escalation of the conflict.
