Yemen: Shadow War Escalates Between Saudi Arabia and UAE, Rights Group Warns

A human rights activist in Yemen warns of an escalating hidden conflict between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates over control and influence in the region, stating that the ongoing situation is not merely a civil war but a battleground for regional score-settling.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a prominent human rights advocate in Yemen, Nabil al-Hada, has raised concerns about a growing, covert conflict between Saudi Arabia and the UAE over Yemen.

Al-Hada emphasized that the situation in Yemen is not simply a civil war, but rather a stage for regional powers to settle their accounts. He stated that the UAE is actively trying to solidify its presence on Yemen’s strategic islands, while Saudi Arabia aims to expand its influence in the Hadramaut region. This, according to al-Hada, is part of a longer-term power struggle between the two nations.

Al-Hada added that the coalition launched by Saudi Arabia and the UAE against Yemen has failed. He argued that Yemen has historically resisted interventions from major global powers like the United States and threats from Israel, making it unlikely to succumb to limited regional influence.

He concluded by asserting that it is illogical to expect Yemen to surrender to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, particularly since they are aligned with the Zionist regime.
