Iraq’s Prime Minister Selection Process Underway

Internal consultations are actively ongoing within Iraq’s Coordination Framework to select a new prime minister, according to a source close to the coalition.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the selection process for Iraq’s next prime minister is advancing within the Coordination Framework alliance.

A source familiar with the matter stated that the nomination rights are allocated to blocs holding over 25 seats, specifically the Reconstruction and Development Alliance, the State of Law Coalition, and the Sadiqun faction led by Qais al-Khazali.

Al-Khazali has reportedly declined to participate in the race, narrowing the competition to Nouri al-Maliki and Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

However, concerns over al-Sudani’s performance during his initial term as prime minister have led to his potential replacement with an alternative candidate.
