Venezuela Unveils New Defense Plan Amid US Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has revealed plans to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities in 2026, a project dubbed “Plan 2026.” This announcement comes amid ongoing tensions and perceived threats from the United States.
In a televised address, Maduro stated that his government intends to unveil new strategies aimed at enhancing the nation’s defensive capabilities. These decisions were reportedly made after a high-level meeting with senior government officials.
Maduro described the recent military maneuvers by the United States in the Caribbean Sea as a direct threat to Venezuela. He cited these developments as a major catalyst for increased investment in the country’s defense sector.
The “Plan 2026” initiative aims to fortify Venezuela’s capabilities in security, defense, communication policies, and social organization.
Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López emphasized that recent threats have compelled Venezuela to develop new strategies and restructure its paramilitary forces. He further stated that the Venezuelan naval forces are enhancing their readiness to respond to any potential attacks.
Washington recently disclosed the deployment of warships and a submarine to the Venezuelan coast. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the US military is prepared for military operations to change the regime in Venezuela.
In response, Maduro announced the mobilization of 4.5 million Venezuelan forces to counter any potential aggression.
