Hamas Rejects Talks on Second Phase of Gaza Ceasefire, Cites Israeli Violations

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas is refusing to engage in discussions regarding the second phase of a ceasefire in Gaza, citing ongoing violations of the initial agreement by Israel. Hossam Badran, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, refuted claims by Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir about defining new borders for Gaza, asserting that these statements demonstrate Israel’s lack of commitment to the ceasefire terms.
Badran stated that all entities monitoring the Palestinian situation agree that Israel has not fulfilled a single obligation from the first phase of the agreement. He highlighted that Israel continues to keep the Rafah crossing closed in both directions, obstruct the entry of tents and prefabricated units for emergency housing, severely reduce humanitarian aid to Gaza, and persist in targeting civilians.
Badran further noted that the ongoing demolition of Palestinian homes within the designated “yellow line” constitutes a continuation of military actions that were supposed to cease with the ceasefire, but have continued without constraint. He emphasized that any dialogue about the second phase of the agreement is meaningless until Israel is compelled to fully implement the first phase, through clear pressure from mediators, the United States, and other relevant parties.
Badran asserted that as long as Israel continues to violate its commitments, advancing to the second phase remains impossible.
