Russia Warns of Arctic Militarization Amid Rising Tensions with West

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, addressed a local assembly, highlighting the growing military activity of Western nations in the Arctic. He noted their increased efforts to obstruct Russian economic endeavors in the area.
Moiseyev expressed concerns over the potential for conflict between Russia and Western countries in the Arctic, emphasizing the intensifying competition for resources in the Arctic Ocean and control over critical sea and air communication lines.
The Russian official called upon Western nations to acknowledge Russia’s sovereignty over the Northern Sea Route. He further stated that new strategies from NATO member states concerning the Arctic are being directed against Russia.
Moiseyev identified the militarization of the Arctic as a doctrine being pursued by the United States, Canada, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, and France.
