Russian Economic Delegation Visits Anzali Free Zone and Caspian Port

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ruslan Shafqatovich Gaintdinov, advisor to the governor of Ulyanovsk, Russia, led the delegation’s visit to the Caspian Port’s infrastructure following discussions with senior officials from the organization and related agencies.
The Russian delegation conducted a field visit of Caspian Port, inspecting operational docks, loading areas, cargo terminals, and loading and unloading equipment to gain insight into the port’s latest development projects.
This visit is considered a significant achievement following the summit of governors from Caspian Sea countries and is expected to initiate a new phase of trade, maritime, and transportation cooperation between Iran and Russia, with the Anzali Free Zone playing a central role.
During a meeting with officials from the Anzali Free Zone Organization and related agencies in Gilan province, the Russian delegation emphasized strengthening maritime cooperation, with grain transportation and trade being a key focus of discussions.
The meeting addressed the latest capacities and proposals for joint cooperation in transportation, commodity trade, export and import route development, and the expansion of the Caspian Port market.
The capabilities of Caspian Port in warehousing, cargo terminals, transit, grain silos, regular shipping lines, and the expertise of companies operating in the port complex were highlighted and were of particular interest to the Russian delegation.
The negotiating team from the Anzali Free Zone Organization presented a report on Caspian Port’s infrastructure capabilities in connecting to the International North-South and East-West Corridors, investment opportunities, tariff advantages, and combined rail-sea routes, emphasizing the region’s readiness for long-term cooperation with the Ulyanovsk province.
The specialized meeting, focused on logistical cooperation between Iran and Russia, included the Deputy for Ports and the Caspian Region, the Advisor to the CEO of the Anzali Free Zone Organization, representatives from the Northern Railway Company, the Guilan Province Livestock Affairs Department, the Caspian Sea Shipping Company, several companies operating at Caspian Port, and directors of international affairs and customs from the Anzali Free Zone.
