Arab Parliament Chief Condemns Raid on UNRWA HQ as ‘Heinous Crime’

The President of the Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the Israeli incursion into the UNRWA headquarters in Sheikh Jarrah, occupied Jerusalem, labeling it a “heinous crime” and a direct assault on the United Nations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the head of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, reacted strongly on Tuesday to the raid by Israeli occupation forces on the UNRWA headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem.

Al-Yamahi described the incursion as a “heinous crime” and a “direct attack on the United Nations and its international legitimacy.”

In a statement, Al-Yamahi emphasized that the assault constitutes a blatant violation of all international laws and treaties, demonstrating a lack of deterrence in restraining the behavior of the occupiers or compelling them to respect the international community.

He added that this action is part of an organized campaign aimed at depleting UNRWA’s resources and undermining its humanitarian role in serving millions of Palestinian refugees. He said it is also an attempt to end the organization’s activities and deprive the Palestinian people of their fundamental rights.

Al-Yamahi stressed that attacking the headquarters of a UN-affiliated organization is a full-fledged international crime, calling on the United Nations and the international community to intervene immediately to stop the “unbridled behavior of the occupiers,” which he described as a threat to the rules of the international system.

He also called for the adoption of international deterrent measures to ensure the protection of international organizations’ headquarters and their staff, holding the occupying regime fully responsible for this escalation and its consequences on regional stability and international security.
