German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Slams Trump’s New Security Strategy

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has strongly criticized the new security strategy of the Trump administration, asserting that Europe and Germany must be more independent from the United States in terms of security policy.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz voiced strong opposition to President Trump’s new security strategy during a speech on Tuesday.

“In my discussions with the Americans, I say, ‘America first is good, but a solitary America cannot be in your best interest. You need partners in the world,'” Merz stated.

He added, “This strategy confirms my assessment that Europe, and Germany specifically, must be far more independent from the United States concerning security policy.”

Merz also commented on the notion of the U.S. intervening to protect European democracy, stating, “I see no need for Americans to save democracy in Europe now. If there were a need for saving, we would do it ourselves.”
