Hamas Accuses Netanyahu of Stalling Second Phase of Ceasefire Deal

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem alleges that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is delaying the second phase of the ceasefire agreement by creating excuses related to the return of the final captive’s body. The group is demanding pressure on Israel to fully implement the first phase.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas has accused Benjamin Netanyahu of stalling the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem, cited by the Palestinian Shahab news agency, stated that Netanyahu is fabricating excuses about the non-delivery of the last captive’s body to avoid commencing the second phase of the agreement. Qassem called for increased pressure on the “Zionist occupation regime” to fully implement its commitments under the first phase and to initiate the second phase.

Earlier, Hamas political bureau member Hussam Badran asserted that any discussions about the second phase are contingent upon the “occupation regime” being compelled to fully implement the terms of the first phase, through explicit pressure from mediators, the United States, and other relevant parties.

Badran emphasized that proceeding to the second phase is impossible as long as the “occupiers” continue to violate their commitments.
