Bolivia Resumes Diplomatic Ties with Israel in Washington Ceremony

Bolivia and Israel have officially re-established diplomatic relations after a two-year break, marked by the signing of an agreement in Washington D.C. The move follows a shift in Bolivian government and the lifting of visa restrictions for Israelis.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the foreign ministers of Israel and Bolivia signed a document in Washington, D.C., formally resuming political relations between the two countries. Gideon Sa’ar, the Israeli Foreign Minister, and his Bolivian counterpart, finalized the agreement, signaling an end to a diplomatic freeze that lasted two years.

Bolivia severed ties with Israel in 2023, citing actions in the Gaza Strip. The recent change in Bolivian government, marked by a more Western-leaning administration, paved the way for renewed relations. The signing ceremony occurred at the residence of the Israeli ambassador to the United States.

Prior to this agreement, Bolivia also announced the removal of visa requirements for Israeli citizens, further indicating a warming of relations between the two nations.
