Israel Approves Construction of Hundreds of Settlement Units in West Bank

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli regime continues its settlement construction in the West Bank, with recent approvals paving the way for hundreds of new residential units.
Bezalel Smotrich, the Finance Minister of Israel, stated on Wednesday that the government has given its final consent for building 764 units across three settlements in the occupied West Bank. Smotrich, known for his opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state, noted that since he assumed office in late 2022, the Supreme Planning Council of the cabinet has approved approximately 51,370 housing units in the West Bank—territory Palestinians seek for their future state.
Smotrich asserted that the latest approval is part of a clear strategic process aimed at strengthening settlements and ensuring the continuation of life, security, and growth, which he views as a crucial concern for Israel’s future.
The international community considers the construction of Zionist settlements illegal, and numerous United Nations Security Council resolutions have called on Israel to cease all settlement activities.
Channel 7 reported that since Smotrich’s appointment as a minister within the Ministry of War approximately three years ago, 51,000 new settlement units have been approved. This figure represents the highest number recorded in the period since 1967.
