Germany Calls for Agreement on Use of Frozen Russian Assets

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz addressed the need for a consensus on leveraging frozen Russian assets during a speech on Wednesday.
Merz stressed that Ukraine holds the authority to determine the form of any regional agreement and requires robust security assurances from both the United States and NATO.
The Chancellor further noted that any agreement concerning European interests requires their approval, underscoring that European security must be preserved. He also called for increased pressure on Russia to compel the country to engage in negotiations.
Merz emphasized that the frozen Russian assets in Europe have become a major bargaining tool. He added that intensive negotiations are underway to swiftly reach an agreement on utilizing these assets.
