Trump Claims Zelensky Resists U.S. Plan for Ukraine Crisis Resolution

Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not supporting the U.S. plan aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, despite others showing interest in the proposed agreement.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Donald Trump said that Volodymyr Zelensky is not supporting the U.S. plan to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated, “In fact, many people, except for President Zelensky, have welcomed the concept of an agreement.”

Trump added, “We are very close to reaching an agreement with Russia… and also very close to an agreement with Ukraine.” He also mentioned that the U.S. would participate in a meeting with European and Ukrainian representatives on Saturday, provided there is a good chance of success.

“If we see a good chance of success, we will go to the European meeting; we don’t want to waste too much time in vain,” Trump emphasized.

Trump clarified that the United States is not directly involved in the war in Ukraine but continues to sell arms to NATO to support Kyiv. “We sell weapons to NATO at full price. They give most of these weapons to Ukraine, maybe to other countries too. But we are not participating in the war,” he said.

Earlier, on December 2, Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, met with a special envoy from the U.S. and Trump’s son-in-law in the Kremlin to discuss the U.S. plan. According to Putin, the American side presented 27 points of the plan in four packages and requested that they be considered separately.

Since February 2022, the Russian army has launched a special military operation in Donbas and, following the annexation of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions to Russia, declared its goal to be the complete liberation of these regions, as well as the disarmament of Ukraine and the guarantee of its neutrality.

In response, Western countries have imposed severe economic sanctions against Russia and provided billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine.
