Lebanese President Rejects U.S. Envoy’s Proposal on Land Annexation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, President Aoun addressed the press, responding to what he described as impudent statements from U.S. envoy Tom Barak concerning the annexation of Lebanese lands to Syria, asserting that Lebanese citizens are united in their rejection of such plans.
President Aoun noted with concern that certain Lebanese individuals in the United States are actively working against aid to the Lebanese army and disrupting its operations. He highlighted that the U.S. has no cause for complaint against the army, which operates across all Lebanese territory.
President Aoun emphasized that negotiations remain the only viable path to securing the release of prisoners, reclaiming territory, and halting Israeli aggression, especially given repeated instances of the Zionist regime’s failure to honor its commitments.
Reiterating the government’s stance on restricting arms to state control, President Aoun acknowledged that progress in this area has not been as straightforward as some might believe.
President Aoun’s comments come amid ongoing declarations from Hezbollah Lebanon that the primary mission of the resistance and its weaponry is to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Regarding relations with Syria, the Lebanese President noted that while progress is slow, relations are improving. He affirmed Lebanon’s readiness to resolve border demarcations with Syria, provided that the issue of the Shebaa Farms is addressed in the final stage.
