Turkey Confirms Damage to Turkish Vessel in Black Sea Attack

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has acknowledged that a foreign vessel owned by a Turkish company was damaged following an attack on the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk.
The ministry reported that the ship’s crew and truck drivers on board were safely evacuated, and no Turkish citizens were harmed during the incident.
The statement reiterated Ankara’s prior concerns regarding the potential for the ongoing conflict in the region to spill over into the Black Sea, impacting maritime security and freedom of navigation.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized the urgent need to end the Russia-Ukraine war and called on both parties to cease attacks on energy infrastructure and ports to maintain navigational freedom and prevent further escalation in the Black Sea.
Earlier, Reuters reported claims from Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister that Russia had attacked two Ukrainian ports, alleging that civilian targets were deliberately targeted and that a Turkish-flagged vessel was hit in one of the ports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also claimed the destruction of a civilian vessel in the port of Chornomorsk, asserting that the airstrike indicated Moscow was not serious about diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
