Yemeni Official Accuses Saudi Arabia and UAE of Economic Sabotage

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Yemeni minister has accused Saudi Arabia and the UAE of conspiring to devastate Yemen’s economy.
Abduljabar Ahmed, the Finance Minister of the Sanaa-based Change and Construction government, stated in a social media post that the Saudi and Emirati regimes are implementing numerous schemes against the Yemeni economy. He described their most dangerous scheme as a crime: turning Yemen into a permanent consumer market for their goods, which destroys local growth factors and impoverishes the country, leading to perpetual unemployment.
Ahmed noted that the former Yemeni regime’s failures over several decades contributed to the destruction of Yemen’s economic system. He illustrated the issue by stating that Saudi Arabia and the UAE purchase Yemeni fruits at the lowest prices, process them into concentrates and juices with artificial flavors, water, and sugar, and then re-import and sell them in Yemen at inflated prices.
Ahmed emphasized that these countries prevent the export of domestically produced Yemeni goods, only accepting raw materials because they benefit from them.
