Turkey Offers to Strengthen Pakistan-Afghanistan Ceasefire Mechanism

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has offered Turkey’s support to reinforce the ceasefire mechanism between Pakistan and Afghanistan during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and affirmed Turkey’s readiness to participate in solidifying the ceasefire mechanism between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Erdoğan emphasized the importance of strengthening friendly relations with Islamabad and expressed his commitment to increasing cooperation between the two nations in various sectors, including energy, trade, and investment.

He also lauded the extension of the ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan, reiterating Turkey’s willingness to contribute to a mechanism designed to maintain peace and prevent conflict.

The meeting between Erdoğan and Sharif occurred on the sidelines of the International Conference on Peace and Trust in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The International Conference on Peace and Trust in Ashgabat was hosted by Turkmenistan to mark the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality and the United Nations General Assembly’s designation of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
