Guterres Visits Baghdad to Mark End of UNAMI Mission

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres traveled to Baghdad to participate in the official ceremony marking the end of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed Guterres and conveyed Iraq’s appreciation for the UN’s role and UNAMI’s work.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Baghdad to attend the official closing ceremony of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

During the welcome ceremony, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stated that Baghdad appreciates the role of the United Nations and UNAMI’s contributions.

Hussein further noted that the conclusion of UNAMI’s mission reflects Iraq’s progress, stability, and capability to manage its own affairs. The Secretary-General affirmed the UN’s continued support for Iraq.
