Gaza Official Sounds Alarm: One Million Displaced, Humanitarian Disaster Worsened by Border Closures

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ismail al-Thawabta, Director-General of the Government Information Office in the Gaza Strip, stated that the recent storm has created a multi-layered humanitarian disaster across the entire region.
Thawabta noted that over one million displaced individuals have been impacted by the storm, with approximately 250,000 suffering direct losses.
Water lines have reportedly failed in dozens of temporary accommodation centers, depriving displaced people of access to safe drinking water. More than 13 homes have collapsed, and 27,000 tents for the displaced have been completely submerged, overturned, or uprooted.
In addition, numerous temporary medical centers are reportedly non-operational due to the severe weather conditions.
The Gaza government media office director emphasized that, alongside the storm damage, the continued closure of border crossings by the Zionist regime, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, has significantly worsened the situation, making the occupiers directly responsible for this humanitarian crisis.
He urged the international community and mediators to intervene immediately to open the crossings and allow the entry of urgent assistance, noting that over 1.5 million displaced people are currently living in accommodation centers and areas of forced displacement, creating a catastrophic humanitarian situation throughout Gaza.
