According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a shooting took place at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and causing confusion regarding the status of the suspect.

Initial reports from ABC News, citing police sources, indicated that security forces were responding to a shooting incident at Brown University. The university administration, as reported by Fox News, alerted students via urgent messages about an armed individual near the engineering department, advising them to secure themselves in safe locations.

CNN later reported an announcement from Brown University stating that a suspect had been apprehended within the campus grounds. However, Brown University issued a separate statement emphasizing that students should remain in secure locations, clarifying that police had not yet arrested any suspect.

The shooting resulted in several injuries, according to Agence France-Presse, though details about the victims and the shooter remain unclear.

President Donald Trump initially claimed that the shooter was in custody and that the FBI was on the scene. He subsequently revised his statement, posting on his social media that the suspect in the Brown University shooting was not in custody.
