Trump Foresees Tough Republican Victory in 2026 Midterm Elections

U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that maintaining a Republican majority in both houses of Congress during the 2026 midterm elections will be a challenge. He emphasized his administration’s economic achievements while acknowledging public perception may take time to catch up.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, has expressed concerns about the Republican Party’s ability to retain control of both the House and Senate in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump stated, “We have to win, but winning is very tough. All we can do is put everything we have into trying to win.” He acknowledged the difficulty of securing a victory despite his efforts.

Trump also highlighted his administration’s success in attracting significant investment to the United States, claiming to have generated billions of dollars.

“I’ve created the greatest economy in history, but it may take a while for people to see the results in their lives,” he added, emphasizing his belief in the long-term benefits of his economic policies.

The U.S. midterm elections are scheduled for November 3, 2026. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate seats, totaling 33, will be contested. Currently, the Republican Party holds a majority in both chambers of Congress.

Historically, the party in power often faces setbacks in midterm elections, according to The Wall Street Journal.
