Hamas Confirms Assassination of Senior Commander Raed Saad; Funeral Procession Held
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas has confirmed the death of Raed Saad, a high-ranking commander of the Qassam Brigades, following an Israeli strike. Palestinian sources reported a massive turnout for the funeral procession of Raed Saad and three others who were with him.
Hamas has condemned the assassination of Raed Saad, calling it a blatant and dangerous violation by the Zionist regime. The group is urging mediators and parties involved in the ceasefire to intervene immediately and compel the occupying regime to adhere to its commitments under the agreement.
On Sunday, Hamas announced that Raed Saad, a commander of the Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, its military wing, was killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted his vehicle. Hamas views this as a violation of the ceasefire agreement by the occupying forces.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem, in an interview with Al-Araby television on Sunday, offered condolences for the death of Raed Saad, a senior commander in the Qassam Brigades in Gaza, and his companions. He described the assassination as a clear and dangerous violation, stating that the attack occurred despite Hamas’s commitment to the first phase of the agreement and its positive readiness to move to the second phase.
Qassem called for the immediate intervention of the mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to pressure the Zionist occupying regime to abide by the terms of the truce.
Hazem Qassem further stated that Hamas rejects any guardianship over the Gaza Strip and any part of its occupied territories, warning against complicity with efforts to displace its people.
The occupying army carried out an air strike on a vehicle in the west of Gaza City on Saturday, resulting in the death of five Palestinians.
In a video message commemorating the 38th anniversary of Hamas’s founding, Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya said that Raed Saad (Abu Muath), the mujahid commander, was martyred along with his brothers who were with him.
