Erdoğan Claims Turkish Message on Gaza Influenced Trump, Vows Continued Support

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Turkey’s message regarding Gaza was impactful during discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking in Istanbul, Erdoğan affirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting Gaza, emphasizing that retreat is not an option.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, President Erdoğan addressed the vital role of Turkish youth in the nation’s future during a Justice and Development Party event in Istanbul.

Erdoğan highlighted the impact of his statements at the United Nations in bolstering the resilience of Gaza. “We will continue on our path with the same determination and will not back down, because if we retreat, we cannot answer to God or to Gaza,” he declared.

He noted that he spoke directly with Israeli representatives at the UN General Assembly last September. “War is not waged with cowards; we are not cowards,” Erdoğan asserted.

Erdoğan criticized the continued violation of the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, in place since October 10, 2025, by the “Zionist occupation regime,” resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza, backed by the United States, has resulted in over 70,000 fatalities and 171,000 injuries among Palestinians, with reconstruction costs estimated at $70 billion.

Discussing the role of youth, Erdoğan urged them to take charge of the country’s future, referencing the “Turkey without Terrorism” program, which he claims has purged the east and southeast of the country from PKK activities.

Erdoğan also lauded Turkey’s defense industry achievements, noting the capabilities of the “Akıncı” and “Kızılelma” drones to target aerial objectives. He specifically thanked the “Baykar” company and promised further advancements in the defense sector.
