Hungary and Poland Clash Over Seizure of Russian Assets

A public dispute erupted on X (formerly Twitter) between the foreign ministers of Hungary and Poland, Péter Szijjártó and Radosław Sikorski, respectively, regarding the seizure of frozen Russian assets.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, tensions flared between Hungary and Poland after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the European Union leaders’ decision to confiscate Russian assets without consulting Hungary violated numerous laws and amounted to a “declaration of war.”
In response, Sikorski posted a sarcastic message referencing Orbán receiving the Order of Lenin, the Soviet Union’s highest honor.
This comment escalated the exchange, with Szijjártó replying that Hungary would not participate in Poland’s desired conflict with Russia.
Sikorski countered that Budapest was once again prepared to align itself with Russia.
