Al-Azhar Condemns Sydney Synagogue Attack, Praises Muslim Hero

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al-Azhar University issued a statement denouncing the armed assault on a Hanukkah event near a popular Sydney beach, stressing that attacks on civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances.
The statement underscored that targeting non-combatants, irrespective of their nationality or religious beliefs, is a violation of Islamic teachings derived from the Quran and the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad.
Al-Azhar specifically lauded the heroic actions of Ahmed Al-Ahmed, a 43-year-old Muslim Australian shop owner, who risked his own life to disarm one of the assailants, thereby saving numerous people in the vicinity.
The university characterized Al-Ahmed’s courageous behavior as a genuine representation of Islamic principles, showcasing Muslims as advocates for peace and compassion rather than violence.
The armed attack resulted in at least 16 fatalities and over 40 injuries.
