Kremlin Blames NATO Presence in Ukraine for Triggering Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated in an interview with Russian state television that the presence of NATO specialists working within Ukrainian governmental structures was a factor that pushed Russia toward initiating its “special military operation.
Peskov referenced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s stances following his victory in the 2019 presidential elections, noting that Zelensky campaigned on a platform of peace but subsequently violated the Minsk agreements and escalated tensions.
The Kremlin spokesman added that the overt presence of NATO specialists in Ukraine, along with the delivery of arms to Kyiv, was undeniable. He asserted that this situation posed a direct threat to Russian citizens in Ukraine and represented a broader threat to Russia’s security.
Peskov emphasized that these factors ultimately led to the decision to commence the special military operation.
