IAEA Chief: Inspections in Iran Resume, Access to Key Sites Still Limited

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi told Ria Novosti that the agency has resumed inspections in Iran but lacks access to critical facilities.
“This is the most important issue we are currently facing in Iran,” Grossi stated. “We have been able to resume inspections, but we still do not have access to key sites.”
In a report released Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the IAEA chief noted that Iran had not allowed inspectors access to its nuclear facilities, which Israel and the United States had reportedly bombed. Grossi emphasized that the IAEA’s inability to access these nuclear materials for five months has significantly delayed verification efforts.
The agency has confirmed that it has inspected some Iranian nuclear facilities unaffected by the 12-day war with Israel and attacks by the United States.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghaei responded to Grossi’s statements, saying that IAEA inspectors visited several Iranian nuclear centers last week, including the Tehran Research Reactor. He added that procedures for inspecting other nuclear facilities are clear, based on parliamentary law, which requires coordination with the Supreme National Security Council before any IAEA inspection request is approved.
Baghaei stated, “We face specific circumstances due to the aggressive actions of the Zionist regime and the United States, which the IAEA must understand. This situation is not normal. We cooperated with the IAEA in a standard manner before the recent military aggression and reached an understanding after the Cairo agreement to cooperate in the new circumstances.”
