Ibrahim al-Moussawi Appointed as Hezbollah’s Media Relations Chief

Hezbollah’s leadership council has approved the formation of a new department to manage media affairs, appointing Lebanese parliament member Ibrahim al-Moussawi as its head, according to reports.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al-Akhbar newspaper, a media outlet close to Hezbollah, reported that the decision to establish the new department comes as part of organizational changes within Hezbollah following recent conflicts.

The directive, which was communicated to relevant officials a few days ago, establishes a committee headed by Ibrahim al-Moussawi, a member of the Lebanese Parliament. The committee’s membership includes representatives from all Hezbollah media entities, including radio, television, electronic media, and the party’s public relations unit.

The newly formed department will report directly to Sheikh Naim Qassem, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, pending a future decision on whether to maintain its current structure or transform it into a new central council.

Another decision by the Hezbollah leadership council grants the committee broad authority to restructure and streamline media institutions and to develop a new strategy for media engagement both domestically and internationally. The directive also mandates that media institution leaders should possess expertise in their respective fields, discouraging the selection of leaders from other sectors.
