US Deploys 1,500 Additional Troops to Ain al-Assad Airbase in Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a military source in Anbar province revealed that the U.S. military command is increasing its troop presence at the Ain al-Assad Airbase.
The source stated that the reasons for this deployment remain unclear, noting that over 1,500 soldiers have been stationed at the Ain al-Assad base, located in the al-Baghdadi area of the Hit district, west of Anbar.
Reports indicate that hundreds of troops arrived via air transport to Ain al-Assad. Previously, the base saw a significant reduction of U.S. forces, with personnel transferred to the Harir base north of Erbil.
The source added that the base is now accommodating a substantial number of American troops, with the total expected to exceed 3,000 in the future.
Despite the stable security situation in Iraq and the readiness of Iraqi security forces, the reasons for the increased number of U.S. troops inside the Ain al-Assad base remain unspecified, according to the source.
