EU to Impose Fresh Sanctions on Russia Amid Syria, Lebanon Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner Kaja Kallas announced that the union will impose new sanctions on Russia, citing concerns over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and potential further aggression.
“Putin’s objective is not limited to the Donbas region alone. If he manages to occupy it, he will continue the war until he has control over all of Ukraine,” Kallas stated.
Kallas also addressed recent developments in Syria, including attacks on U.S. forces, emphasizing the EU’s interest in a successful resolution of the situation. She noted that the EU will discuss the Middle East situation, particularly Syria and Lebanon, during an upcoming meeting.
“We have prepared a memorandum for engagement with Syria, which we will pursue considering our concerns and what we can do to help Syria move in the right direction,” Kallas added.
Turning to Lebanon, the EU official described the country as being in a difficult phase. While the EU provides assistance to the Lebanese army, Kallas asserted that the army must take necessary steps to disarm Hezbollah.
