Hamas Warns of Catastrophic Conditions in Gaza Amid Flooding, Cold Weather

Hamas has issued a stark warning regarding the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, exacerbated by recent flooding and freezing temperatures. International aid organizations are calling for long-term solutions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a spokesperson for Hamas has described the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip as worsening due to the severe weather conditions, including heavy rains and flooding that have impacted refugee camps. These camps provide little to no protection against the elements.

Hamas officials stated that previous warnings and requests for essential shelter equipment and reconstruction efforts have been ignored by the international community. They added that the international community remains unable to end the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

The organization urges mediating parties, guarantor nations of the ceasefire agreement, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to intervene immediately to alleviate the suffering of the Gazan population.

Meanwhile, an official from the International Committee of the Red Cross characterized the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as dire, emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable solutions to improve living conditions.

News outlets have also released footage showing flooded streets throughout Gaza.
