Italian Official: Sanctions Against Russia Have Crippled Europe

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Matteo Salvini, Italy‘s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated in an interview with Rete 4 TV that the European Union’s 19 sanction packages against Russia have weakened European economies.
He added that nearly four years have passed since the start of the conflict, and the 19 sanction packages, intended to bring Russia to its knees, have instead brought European economies to their knees, increasing energy prices for Italians. This is why he is cautious about rearming and sending weapons to Ukraine.
The Italian official stated that neither Hitler nor Napoleon were able to bring Moscow to its knees, and he doubts that Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the UK, and Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, could do so.
Salvini added that Europe does not face a real threat from the East, but rather the main threat comes from the South, where illegal immigrants enter the European continent.
