Netanyahu’s Government Faces Collapse Threat Over Military Exemption Law

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a significant challenge to his coalition government as Haredi parties threaten to dissolve parliament if progress on a law exempting them from military conscription is not accelerated.
These Haredi parties, a key pillar of the ruling coalition, have reportedly warned that failure to expedite the exemption law could trigger the collapse of Netanyahu’s cabinet. The threat follows similar warnings from the Shas party, with 11 representatives, and the United Torah Judaism party, with seven, who have previously threatened to bring down the government.
The current parliamentary term is set to conclude in October 2026, but these threats could push Israel towards early elections.
The ruling coalition currently holds 68 out of 120 parliamentary seats, requiring a minimum of 61 to maintain its majority.
The Israeli army is reportedly seeking to recruit Haredi Jews, who constitute 13% of the population, to address personnel shortages.
