Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers to Discuss Strategic Partnership in Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to meet with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Iraqchi, in Moscow on Wednesday, December 17, to discuss the expanding strategic partnership between Russia and Iran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Iraqchi in Moscow on Wednesday, December 17.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the ministers will continue their regular and trust-based exchange of views on a wide range of issues related to Russian-Iranian relations. These relations have reached a new level since the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement came into effect on October 2, 2025.

The ministers will address key items on the bilateral agenda, focusing on the implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels. This includes discussions following the meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat and on September 1, 2025, in Tianjin.

The statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry also noted preparations for the 19th meeting of the Standing Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Russia and Iran, scheduled to take place in Iran in February 2026. The ministers will pay particular attention to increasing bilateral trade and practical aspects of major joint projects in energy and transportation. They will also discuss the crisis created by the West regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
