China and Egypt Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties, Regional Developments

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry reported that Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, discussed means of bolstering bilateral ties and addressed regional developments of mutual concern during their phone call.
Abdel-Aty expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between Cairo and Beijing, conveying Egypt’s desire to host the fifth round of strategic consultations between the two countries at the foreign minister level. He also announced the formation of a joint committee to review the strengthening of relations in various fields, coinciding with the celebration of the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
He lauded Egyptian-Chinese cooperation in new and renewable energy, seawater desalination, and other areas, emphasizing the promising investment opportunities in Egypt, particularly within the framework of the national approach to localizing industry and technology transfer. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening Chinese investments in Egypt in the fields of artificial intelligence and digitization.
The two sides exchanged views on regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Abdel-Aty emphasized the importance of ensuring the continuation of the ceasefire and implementing the requirements of the second phase of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, which would contribute to consolidating calm and preventing renewed tension.
He stressed the importance of unimpeded humanitarian aid access in sufficient quantities and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, which would help improve the living conditions of Palestinians.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also warned of the dangers of the situation in the West Bank, given the alarming escalation of settler violence and the continued policy of land confiscation.
The phone call also addressed developments in Sudan.
Abdel-Aty reiterated Cairo’s unwavering support for Sudan’s integrity, sovereignty, and stability, emphasizing the importance of reaching a humanitarian ceasefire that leads to a sustainable cessation of hostilities.
